Set by the Province, each drought level comes with recommendations and targets. More information can be found in the BC Drought Response Plan and soon-to-be-released RDKB Boundary Region Drought Response Plan.

How does the Province determine these levels? Consideration is given to early indicators (snow measurements and runoff forecasts) and current conditions (precipitation amounts and stream flow).

RDKB provides local knowledge to the Province to help ensure the drought level classification is representative to what we are seeing in the Boundary region.
