Temperature Monitoring

Ever wondered how air temperatures in town differs between areas shaded by trees versus those non-treed spots? What about water temperature – how does a riparian area impact water temperature on a small stream?

The RDKB has been setting up a few sensors to monitor air and water temperature in the Boundary Region. Collected data we will uploaded to this site.

Heat Index: The area’s Relative Humidity will affect how the air temperature feels. Which is why a high temperature of 32°C on the Coast feels much warmer than 32°C on a dry day here in Grand Forks.

As the RDKB acquires more temperature sensors we are looking to monitor more locations. Do you have a spot that you think should be monitored? Fisheries issues? Potential heat islands? Send your ideas to [email protected]. Please send a photo and description of the concern with your suggestions.
